How To Maintain And Store Construction Tools Properly

1. Clean them after use: Dirt, dust, and debris usually accumulate on construction tools after use. Cleaning them regularly helps prevent corrosion, rusting, and dulling of the tools. Use a brush, rag, or air compressor to clean them down.

2. Sharpen and lubricate: Using dull tools can make your work more strenuous and time-consuming, requiring more physical effort and less precision. Sharpen your saws, drill bits, and blades regularly. Apply oil or lubricant (or WD-40) to moving parts to prevent friction and rusting.

3. Store them in a dry place: Store your tools in a clean, dry place, away from moisture or precipitation. Keep them off the ground and stack them away from walls to prevent dampness and damage to the tools.

4. Use proper storage boxes: Investing in proper storage containers, tool boxes, or a pegboard helps keep your tools organised and damage-free. Be sure to label each container to avoid confusion, and keep the frequently used tools closer for immediate access.

5. Inspect them often: Inspect your tools regularly, ideally before you use them, to ensure they are in good condition. Check for cracks, bends, dents, chips, or signs of wear and tear.

Maintaining and storing construction tools properly helps prolong their lifespan, allowing you to work safely, effectively, and efficiently.
